Gloucester author, Anita Faulkner, is a contender for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) annual Joan Hessayon Award for 2022 with her novel, A Colourful Country Escape. The award is for authors whose debut novels have gone through the RNA’s New Writers’ Scheme and are subsequently accepted for publication.

Anita writes warm and fuzzy romcoms from her up-cycled bureau near the Cotswolds. Described by her agent Kate Nash as ‘a sparkling new voice,’ Anita’s debut, A Colourful Country Escape, will be published by Sphere in June 2022. She runs a lively Facebook group to champion her genre and was shortlisted for the RNA’s prestigious Media Star of theYear award in 2021. You’ll often hear her chatting on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

She commented, ‘It’s so exciting to be a contender for the RNA’s prestigious Joan Hessayon Award amongst such brilliant debut authors. The RNA has played a huge and important role in my writing journey and I’m grateful to everyone who makes these awards possible.’

ABOUT THE BOOK:
(Publisher: Sphere (Little, Brown Book Group)
A Colourful Country Escape is the story of Lexie Summers, a vibrant but penniless social media manager whose world collides with that of her new, wealthy but seemingly dull boss “Beige Ben.” Expect vintage camper van explosions, scary peacocks and a whole lot of ruffled feathers.
