Finalists: The Popular Romantic Fiction Award 2025
24 April 2025

All the Painted Stars by Emma Denny (HQ):
To be shortlisted is absolutely incredible. I am so pleased that All the Painted Stars has found an audience that loves it just as much as I love Lily and Jo. This is wonderful for me, but also a brilliant example of how popular queer romances are – and how important they can be to queer readers!

Things We Do for Love by Miranda Dickinson (HQ):
I’m over the moon to be shortlisted for the RNA’s Popular Romantic Fiction Award! What’s extra-special for me is that this award is nominated by booksellers, librarians, reviewers, bloggers and readers, meaning that my book has been read and loved, which is wonderful. This is my third shortlisting for an RNA award and such an honour to be recognised alongside the brightest and best fiction writers in our industry. Romantic fiction is having such a fantastic resurgence right now and it’s great to be part of it.

New Beginnings at the Cosy Cat Cafe by Julie Haworth (Simon & Schuster UK):
It’s an honour to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award and I’m hugely grateful to the RNA and to my publisher, Simon & Schuster, for all their encouragement and support throughout my writing career.

A Christmas in Prague by Helga Jensen (Canelo Hera):
I am absolutely over the moon to be shortlisted for the prestigious Popular Romantic Fiction Award. I cannot put into words how much this means to me. Being nominated for an award like this makes such a difference and makes all the hard work worthwhile. I am truly honoured that so many readers chose A Christmas in Prague and would like to thank every single person who nominated my book. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Best is Yet to Come by Jessica Redland (Boldwood):
I am beyond thrilled to have been shortlisted. I’ve been a member of the RNA since I joined the NWS (New Writers’ Scheme) in 2012. Being part of that amazing programme assured me that I could write and, by year three, I’d secured a publishing deal. The RNA tirelessly champion romantic fiction and I’m so proud to be part of an organisation that refuses to let this genre be dismissed as inferior when it can be powerful and even life-changing. To be shortlisted specifically for the Popular Romantic Fiction Award is an incredible honour as this comes directly from the love the readers have shown for The Best is Yet to Come and the buzz that their love for this story has created. I have no idea whether I’ll win, but I feel like a winner just by being a finalist.
