What Makes a Page-turning Romance?

£65.00

With Helena Fairfax

This course will run in November 2021.

The most successful romances have three solidly built elements at their core: structure, conflict and character arc. Sounds dull? This course aims to liven up the writing text books by studying Roman Holiday, Jane Eyre and Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game – three romance stories, crossing a span of centuries, which have found their way to people’s hearts. In this course you’ll learn how the science of writing lies at the heart of these stories’ emotional appeal, and how you can apply that science to your own writing, to build a romance that will stay with readers long after they’ve turned the last page.
