Adèle Geras was born in Jerusalem. She was educated at Roedean School, Brighton, and St. Hilda’s College, Oxford. She’s been an actress and a teacher but since 1976, she has written more than 90 books for readers of all ages.
Her novel TROY was shortlisted for the Whitbread Book Award Highly Commended for the Carnegie Medal. Her first adult novel, FACING THE LIGHT was sold to more than 20 countries around the world. Her latest Young
Adult book is DIDO and for younger readers, she has just published the third in the Tutu Tilly series, MY BALLET DREAM.
She has reviewed books for the Guardian and the Times Educational Supplement and twice been a judge for the Costa Awards, once back in the days when it was still the Whitbread Award.
Her first adult novel FACING THE LIGHT was published in 2003 and she’s published five other adult novels, the latest of which is LOVE OR NEAREST OFFER, published by Quercus in 2016.
