Alison Morton joined the RNA in 2010 under the New Writers’ Scheme and became the RNA’s first Independent Author Member in September 2015 when the category was set up.
She writes the acclaimed Roma Nova thriller series featuring Carina and Aurelia, modern Praetorian heroines from different generations but with similarly complicated love lives.
All six Roma Nova full-length novels have been awarded the prestigious BRAG Medallion.
INCEPTIO and PERFIDITAS were joint runners-up in Writing Magazine’s 2014 Self-Published Book of the Year.
SUCCESSIO, AURELIA and INSURRECTIO were selected as Historical Novel Society’s Indie Editor’s Choices. AURELIA was a finalist in the 2016 HNS Indie Award.
SUCCESSIO was also selected as an Editor’s Choice in The Bookseller’s inaugural Indie Preview.
Alison blends her deep love of history with six years’ military service and a life of reading romantic, adventure, historical and thriller fiction. A ‘Roman nut’ since age 11, she has misspent decades clambering over Roman sites throughout Europe. She holds an MA in history, and blogs about Romans, writing and publishing. She is a regular speaker at conferences in the UK, US, France and Ireland on writing craft, social media, self-publishing, research and historical fiction.
Now she’s writing her next project, cultivating a Roman herb garden and drinking wine in France with her husband.
