I live in Wigan, in Lancashire (God’s country no matter what the folk from Yorkshire say!)
I’ve written since I was very young, but only seriously when recovering from a bout of illness and opting to take voluntary redundancy from decades in the public sector.
I write Regency Romances because I’m passionate about history, but particularly that era. I love getting inspiration from the places I visit, or an incident in history. One of my latest stories wraps itself around the Peninsular War.
When my stories started being enjoyed by readers, it was as if I’d entered an alternate universe. My wildest dream had come true. I first published at the end of 2011 and I’ve been building a readership since then. In 2018, I was a finalist in Amazon’s StorytellerUK competition. A Regency Romance as a finalist in an all-genre competition! Me, a finalist! It was surreal.
I’m really looking forward to taking part in the events and conferences with the Romantic Novelists Association. I’m sick of saying ‘I just write Regency Romance’, completely ignoring the time, effort and work which actually goes into each story. So, I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone.
