At age 15 she saw the film of Ivanhoe and got hooked on history. At age 39 her first novel, Gildenford, was published, using her own name.

Fiona worked as a journalist until 1989, then became a full-time author. She still am, at age 82.

She loves horses, Exmoor, books, whisky, and used to love travelling especially by air. .She hates onions, garlic, driving on motorways, and housework in any form.
