When Jo visited a small exhibition about a former Wolverhampton department store, she had no idea that it might one day be the inspiration for a novel – or six!
But after a 30 year career producing, then scriptwriting, for soaps on TV and radio, she took the plunge and created the ‘Shop Girls’ series, set in a fictional Midland department store in World War Two and published by Harper Collins. A warm sense of community and the value of female friendship despite the hardships on the Home Front are the keynotes to her books.
She lives in the Midlands with her husband, and has one daughter.
