Laura Kemp started writing to get out of doing a real job.
A journalist by trade, she turned to fiction six months after becoming a mum in a bid to escape nappies and teething. She is also a columnist and a regular contributor to radio.
Now in the midst of the mumopause, Laura loves to run (to earn wine and crisps points) and treats the dog like a substitute baby.
She lives with him, her husband, their son and a neurotic cat in South Wales.
