R J Gould writes contemporary fiction, using humour to describe past, present and sought after relationships. His characters, some highly eccentric and some plain ordinary (even though there’s no such thing as that), are trying to make the most of their lives while carrying heaps of baggage. They struggle to balance the pressures of work, friends and family as they search for romance. The male perspective on relationships provides a refreshingly original viewpoint.

Having joined the New Writers’ Scheme in 2014, he was taken on by the publisher Accent Press. His first novel, A Street Café Named Desire, was short-listed for the RNA’s Joan Hessayon Award.

He is a member of Cambridge Writers where he leads the Commercial Editing Group. He heads a national educational charity, is the co-author of a major work on educating able young people, and has published in a wide range of journals and magazines – but his passion is writing fiction.
