Sylvia has lived in the beautiful and diverse county of the East Riding of Yorkshire all her life. She is an avid reader since first being able to hold a book in her hands, which drew her to her passion of writing.  She has written and published a serial, short stories on radio and magazines, and novellas. Her novella, The House by the Mere, was short-listed for the RNA Romance Prize.

She writes Sagas set in Hull and the surrounding area. Her books are published in hardback, large print, audio and soon to be in paperback.  She was very fortunate to have a one-2-one at the RNA Conference with agent Kate Nash, who now represents her and secured a 2 book deal with publisher Allison & Busby.

When not writing or researching, she sings in a choir and is a volunteer guide at Beverley Minster. Time spent with her family is precious, her daughter and family live nearby, and she is a frequent traveller to Melbourne, Australia to visit her son and family.
