Romantic Novelists' Association

Lizzie Lamb – Finalist In The Indie Champion Of The Year Category

20 October 2022

Leicestershire indie author, Lizzie Lamb, is a finalist in the Indie Champion of the Year category for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) annual IndustryAwards for 2022. The awards celebrate the hard work and talent of any person, group or organisation who has championed the broad genre of romantic fiction in a positive way, with the Indie Champion award recognising a person, group, organisation, association or company who has made an outstanding contribution to indie romance publishing.

Lizzie has always wanted to be a writer. Nearly ten years ago she co-founded New Romantics Press with other RNA members and, to date, they have published a total of 15 novels. She believes in waving the flag for romantic fiction wherever and whenever she can and helping others to achieve their publishing goal. She is the proud author of six novels, with number seven out before the end of 2022.

She commented, ‘Being shortlisted for such a prestigious award has come as a complete surprise and given me a chance to reflect on what – to date – has been a wonderful career as an author. I am also grateful for the fabulous friendships I have made throughout this journey, hopefully helping and inspiring others to achieve their publishing dream too. Going it alone, without the backing of a publisher / agent, has been challenging at times but I wouldn’t have come this far without the expertise and generous support of the Romantic Novelists’ Association at local and national level. This support has spurred me to write and publish six novels with the seventh about to be published and I would like to take this opportunity to thank whoever has nominated me for this award with all my heart.’

Laura James, the RNA Industry Awards organiser, added, ‘I congratulate each and every finalist and thank them and the industry for the unwavering love they show writers and readers of romantic fiction.’

The awards have been held for the past eight years and are highly respected in the UK publishing industry. The finalists are nominated by the full and probationary membership of the Romantic Novelists’ Association, with a panel of independent judges selecting the shortlists.

The award categories are: The Romantic Bookseller of the Year, Inclusion Award, Indie Champion of the Year, Library or Librarian of the Year, Indie Editor of the Year, Cover Designer of the Year, Narrator of the Year, Media Star of the Year, Agent of the Year, and Publisher and / or Editor of the Year.

The winners of the ten awards will be announced during the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Winter Party and Industry Awards ceremony, which is being held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City, 8-14 Cooper’s Row, London EC3N 2BQ, on Friday 11th November 2022 at 6.30pm.

Jilly Cooper has always been my inspiration and apart from the RNA helping me achieve my dream by being a published author – some reviews even compare my books to hers – the ultimate dream came true when I met her at the RNA Awards in March 2018. I’ve even named my mini cooper after her (see attached photo) ©LizzieLamb
