Annie O’Neil – Hawaiian Medic to Rescue His Heart

Annie spent most of her childhood with a leg draped over the family rocking chair and a book in her hand. Novels, baking and writing too much teenage angst poetry ate up most of her youth. Now, quite a few years on from those fevered daydreams of being a poet, Annie splits her time between raising striped cows, harvesting honey, juicing apples – but she mostly spends an abundance of very happy hours at her computer writing as Annie O’Neil, Daisy Tate and this year, as Sheila McClure. Multiple writing personalities have never been more fun!

She commented, “I am absolutely over the moon to be shortlisted for this award.”

Louise Allen – A Proposal to Risk Their Friendship

Louise is the author of over seventy historical romances and several history non-fiction titles, all set in the “long” Regency period. After a career in public libraries she took early retirement to write full time. She now lives on the North Norfolk coast with her husband and a garden full of bossy pheasants. Travel is a major love of hers, always with her laptop to hand in case inspiration for a book strikes.

She commented, “I am beyond thrilled to be shortlisted for this award. Coming after the difficulties of the past two years when writing was a refuge, it is especially wonderful to have a book produced during lockdown recognised in this way and I don’t think it would have been possible without the support of fellow writers in the RNA.”

A PROPOSAL TO RISK THEIR FRIENDSHIP BOOK BLURB (Publisher: Mills & Boon)

Melissa Taverner has literary ambitions and the fixed determination to remain an independent spinster. Lord Henry Cary, fourth son of a duke, appears to be a conventional diplomat – until Melissa realises that he is not at all what he seems. Before she knows what is happening she is not only friends with the really rather decorative gentleman, but she is embroiled in his hazardous secret world. Even so, she sees no reason why she cannot continue in her independent way of life, even in the face of scandal. And then Melissa finds herself asking the last question she ever imagined would pass her lips …

After spending nearly 30 years in West Yorkshire, in 2018 Sarah moved to the Scottish Highlands and now lives on the very remote – and very beautiful – west coast.

She commented, “I am so thrilled to be shortlisted for this award! I have been a member of the RNA for many years and it is such an honour to have one of my books singled out in this way. Writing can be a very lonely business and it is very rewarding to know all the hard work is appreciated.”
